We don't try to answer the big questions. We try to find the deeper one hiding underneath them.

The idea

Not just one question.

We carry many questions about ourselves — who we are, why we react the way we do, what we fear, what we want, and why certain patterns keep returning.

But maybe those questions aren't separate. Maybe they trace back to one deeper, unresolved question — the question beneath — from which the others first began.

What we believe

The obvious question is rarely the whole story. Behind it there's usually something quieter, older, and more personal — and that's the part worth reaching.

How we do it

We're not here to act as gurus or hand out universal answers. Everyone's path is different. We explore the questions that help uncover what's real for you.

Why it matters

Advice that tries to answer life's big questions has to generalise — and generalised answers are hard to live by, because no two paths are the same. A good question does the opposite. It unearths what sits beneath the surface, for one person at a time.

The voices

Two friends, two starting points.

We come at this from opposite directions. One of us moved away from the faith he grew up in; the other has carried his across continents and keeps testing it against daily life. One tends to arrive with a question, the other with a conviction — and the conversations live in the space between.

Emmanuel Addai-Boakye Yiadom
Co-host

I grew up in Ghana within a Judeo-Christian worldview, and I've spent the years since building a life in Europe and testing what I inherited against it. I bring the long questions — where we come from, why we're here, how we should live — and a habit of slowing the conversation down to sit with the assumptions underneath it. The conviction I carry: that wisdom lives in both ancient truths and honest curiosity, and that what it means to be human is found somewhere between the two.

Jon Catilli
Co-host

I grew up British and Italian, shaped early by my parents' separation. Over the years my faith has drifted from organised religion toward something more spiritual and my own, and last year a bone-deep burnout forced me to look inward for the first time — to be vulnerable, and to notice the good as readily as I'd brace for the worst. What I bring is the lived, felt side of things: a willingness to go first, to put real experience in the room and ask how an idea actually holds up in a life. The question I keep carrying: why is it so hard to be honest with ourselves?

The series

One question, followed all the way down.

Each episode opens with an obvious question and follows it to deeper ones underneath. Series 1 launched with a bonus introduction, alongside episode 1, and we will publish a new episode every fortnight.

Why Don't We Trust The Mirror?

Ten conversations on self-perception, identity, vulnerability, love, and the stories we carry about who we are.

Most of us are surrounded by mirrors — friends, partners, family, achievements, compliments, criticism — yet we struggle to believe the good reflections. This series asks what might change if the people who love us are right about us.
